The HETI was built as a gaff rigged cutter of the 12mR class 1912 in Hamburg. This distinguishes the HETI from most other sailing 12mers, which have a slup rig.
This kind of rigging makes the operation more difficult. But the Heti is a real eye-catcher, especially when sailing under full sails.
HETI is rigged with a continuous stalk mast and jib boom. She measures 18.60 meters in length overall (length above deck) and 3.5 meters wide. The length of the waterline is 13.24 metres, the draught 2.8 metres. Its overall length is a good 23.00 metres from the top of the jib boom to the end of the overhanging main boom. The hull consists of mahogany planks on wooden and steel planks.
HETI has six sails: the mainsail, the topsail, the jib, the cuttersail, the pilot/flyer and the gennaker. Depending on the combination, the combined sail area is over 350 square metres.
