The association "Freunde der Segelyacht HETI e.V." was founded in 2001 by the founding members Philipp Schilling, Christoph Kröger, Hadi Teherani, Dietrich Scheder-Bieschin, Nikolaus H. Schües, Frank Hippen, Christoph Kleiner, Hans-Joachim Holthausen and Alexander Kiel.

Together, they have all made their contribution to the conservation of the maritime heritage of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Together with the "Hamburg Maritime Foundation" and the association "Jugend in Arbeit Hamburg e.V.", they have provided exemplary training in traditional boatbuilding and the preservation of an extraordinary piece of maritime heritage in Hamburg. But it is also about the fascination and sporting challenge of regatta sailing with a historical and rare racing yacht.

The club "Freunde der Segelyacht HETI e.V." is the sole owner of the legendary twelve-man yacht. The only condition apart from covering the operating costs: showing the flag at the Hamburg harbour birthday. An honourable obligation, which one gladly fulfils. Thanks to the commitment and sponsoring by the "Freunde der Segelyacht HETI e.V." it was already in October 2005 again: Cast off! - And the HETI a handbroad water under the keel!
